I. NATURE OF THE PROBLEM – REQUIREMENTS
Waterproofing of terraces to be covered with ceramic tiles must provide elasticity, strong adhesion to the substrate and long‑term durability. Because terraces are exposed to weather, repair is difficult and expensive if the waterproofing fails.

II. SOLUTION
The two‑component brushable sealing slurry AQUAMAT‑FLEX is ideal when the terrace will be covered with tiles. When even greater flexibility is required, AQUAMAT‑ELASTIC may be used. These slurries form a continuous, flexible waterproof coating that bonds perfectly with the substrate and can withstand thermal stress, ensuring reliable waterproofing under the tile covering.

III. APPLICATION
Substrate preparation: Clean the surface thoroughly. Repair any cavities, cracks or irregularities with cement mortars like RAPICRET or DUROCRET. Ensure the slab has a slight slope for water drainage. Damp‑proof corners and joints by forming triangular grooves with DUROCRET or DUROCRET‑ADIPLAST‑modified mortar.
Waterproofing: Dampen the substrate. Mix components A and B of AQUAMAT‑FLEX (or AQUAMAT‑ELASTIC) according to instructions. Apply at least two coats using a brush or roller, crossing directions. Between the first and second coats, locally reinforce stress areas (corners, joints) with 10 cm wide strips of polyester cloth or fibreglass mesh and embed a continuous sheet over the entire surface if required. Extend the coating 15‑20 cm up vertical surfaces. Allow each coat to dry before applying the next; total consumption is about 3 kg/m².
Tile installation: After the waterproofing has cured for at least 5 days, install ceramic tiles using the elastic tile adhesive AK‑FLEX‑C or a cement tile adhesive modified with ADIFLEX‑B (10% by weight). Grout the joints with MULTIFILL tile grout improved with DS‑99 polymer latex for extra flexibility.

IV. REMARKS
Application temperature should be above +5 °C.
Protect the fresh coating from high temperatures, rain and frost.
AQUAMAT‑FLEX (or AQUAMAT‑ELASTIC) contains cement and is classified as irritant. Wear appropriate protective equipment and follow safety instructions.
