RELATED MATERIALS
AQUAMAT‑ELASTIC – two‑component, elastic waterproofing slurry
DUROCRET – polymer‑modified cement mortar
RAPICRET – fast‑setting patching mortar
ADIPLAST – polymer latex for multiple improvements of mortars
POLYESTER CLOTH FOR WATERPROOFING LAYERS – polyester cloth, 100 cm wide, for reinforcing waterproofing layers
FIBERGLASS MESH – fiberglass mesh for reinforcing waterproofing layers
I. NATURE OF THE PROBLEM – REQUIREMENTS
Terraces without slopes must be completely watertight, elastic, resistant to weather conditions and long lasting. They must also withstand standing water.
II. SOLUTION
AQUAMAT‑ELASTIC, an elastic cement‑based brushable sealing slurry, is applied over the entire terrace and reinforced overall with sheets of fiberglass mesh or polyester cloth, 100 cm wide. This system creates a strong and continuous elastic waterproof coating with excellent bonding and durability, able to follow expansion and contraction of the terrace.
III. APPLICATION
1. Substrate preparation: Clean the surface thoroughly of any loose particles, grease and dust. Along the intersection of the terrace with vertical structures (parapet, stairwell termination) form and seal a 5–6 cm triangular groove using DUROCRET polymer‑modified cement mortar or a cement mortar modified with ADIPLAST polymer latex. For fast repairs, use RAPICRET. Dampen the substrate without leaving water before applying the waterproofing.
2. Mixing: Add the 25 kg bag of AQUAMAT‑ELASTIC (component A) into the 10 kg of liquid (component B) while stirring continuously until a uniform viscous mixture suitable for brush application is formed. A low‑revolution mixer (300 rpm) may be used.
3. Application of waterproofing: Apply a layer of AQUAMAT‑ELASTIC, as wide as the reinforcing material (fiberglass mesh or polyester cloth). While the slurry is still fresh, lay the reinforcement sheet over it, positioning the sheets sequentially so they overlap by 5–10 cm. After the first layer dries, apply two additional coats of AQUAMAT‑ELASTIC over the entire surface, brushing each coat in the opposite direction to the previous one. It is recommended to use AQUAMAT‑ELASTIC WHITE as the final layer to reduce heat absorption due to sun radiation. The thickness of each coat should not exceed 1 mm to avoid cracking. Extend the waterproofing at least 15–20 cm up any vertical surfaces to form a watertight basin. AQUAMAT‑ELASTIC consumption is about 3.5 kg/m².
IV. REMARKS
Application temperature should be at least +5 °C. Protect the freshly applied waterproofing from high temperatures, rain and frost. Follow the instructions for safe use and precautions printed on the product packaging.
