Grouting of machinery
RELATED MATERIALS
- MEGAGROUT-101: High-strength, fluid, non-shrinking cement grout
- AQUAFIX: Rapid-setting cement
- RAPICRET: Fast-setting patching mortar
I. NATURE OF THE PROBLEM – REQUIREMENTS
When installing machines on concrete floors, the space between the foundation and the machine base must be completely filled with a material that provides high compressive strength, very good fluidity and slight expansion so that there are no voids. The grout must adhere to steel and concrete and have minimal shrinkage.
II. SOLUTION
MEGAGROUT-101 is a ready-to-use cement grout that develops high early and final strengths, flows easily without segregation and expands slightly while hardening. It bonds strongly to steel and concrete, resists impact and vibration and has low water permeability.
III. APPLICATION
- Substrate preparation: Remove dust, oil and loose material from the foundation. Roughen the concrete surface mechanically and pre-wet thoroughly but leave no standing water. Construct formwork around the base ensuring joints are watertight.
- Mixing: Seal any gaps in the formwork with AQUAFIX or RAPICRET. Empty a 25 kg bag of MEGAGROUT-101 into a clean container with 3.0–3.5 L of water while stirring with a mixer until a homogeneous, fluid mixture is obtained.
- Casting: Pour the grout from one side only, allowing air to escape. Use wooden or steel sticks to assist the flow if necessary. Keep the exposed surface moist by covering with wet cloths or curing compound for at least 24 hours.
IV. REMARKS
- MEGAGROUT-101 can be applied in layers up to 10 cm thick.
- Recommended temperature range for application is +5°C to +35°C.
- Do not remix or add water after the material has started to set; pot life is about 60 minutes at 20°C.
- The consumption is approximately 21.5 kg/m²/cm (about 2.1 kg per litre of void).
- Store the material in a dry place between +5°C and +35°C and wear protective gloves and goggles.
