Painting of buildings facades with acrylic paint
RELATED MATERIALS
ISOMAT ACRYL — 100% acrylic exterior paint
UNI‑PRIMER – water‑based primer for interior and exterior use
DUROCRET – polymer‑modified cement mortar
UNICRET – cement‑lime mortar for rendering and masonry
UNICRET‑FAST – fast‑setting mortar
PLANFIX / PLANFIX‑FINE – polymer‑modified cement putties for exposed concrete
ISOMASTIC‑A – elastoplastic acrylic sealant for filling cracks
I. NATURE OF THE PROBLEM – REQUIREMENTS
Building facades are exposed to moisture, sun and pollutants. Inadequate paints lead to chalking, cracking, poor adhesion and moisture penetration. A proper coating must:
- Offer waterproofing and vapor permeability so that moisture does not accumulate in the substrate.
- Provide excellent coverage and colour stability, resisting UV radiation and atmospheric conditions.
- Be elastic and crack‑bridging to withstand thermal expansions and contractions.
- Adhere strongly to mineral substrates such as render, concrete, brick or asbestos cement.
- Allow easy cleaning and present an aesthetic finish.
II. SOLUTION
ISOMAT‑ACRYL is a high‑quality, 100 % acrylic paint that satisfies these requirements. It:
- Exhibits excellent covering ability and colour retention.
- Offers waterproofing combined with water vapour permeability.
- Remains elastic and resistant to frost, sunlight and adverse weather conditions.
- Adheres strongly to render, concrete, brick, gypsum board and other building materials.
- Is washable and provides an aesthetic finish.
- Is suitable for internal or external surfaces, new or old.
III. APPLICATION
Substrate preparation
1. The surface must be dry, clean and free of grease, loose particles or dust.
2. Repair damaged spots or cavities in the render using DUROCRET, UNICRET or UNICRET‑FAST.
3. For exposed concrete surfaces use PLANFIX or PLANFIX‑FINE to repair imperfections.
4. Widen any cracks to at least 5 mm and fill them with ISOMASTIC‑A.
5. Prime the whole surface with UNI‑PRIMER to stabilise loosely bound renders (consumption 100–200 g/m²). Allow the primer to dry.
Application of ISOMAT‑ACRYL
1. Stir the contents of the container thoroughly before use.
2. Apply two coats of ISOMAT‑ACRYL by brush, roller or spray. The paint may be diluted with up to 5–10 % clean water if required.
3. Apply the second coat after the first coat has dried.
4. Consumption is approximately 10–12 m²/kg per coat, depending on the substrate.
IV. REMARKS
- Do not apply the paint when the temperature is below +5 °C or above +35 °C.
- Protect fresh coatings from rain and frost until completely dry.
- Ensure good ventilation during application and curing.
- Clean tools immediately after use with water.
- Use protective gloves and goggles; avoid eye and skin contact.
