I. NATURE OF THE PROBLEM — REQUIREMENTS
Plaster can detach from masonry due to insufficient adhesion, moisture, vibrations or thermal effects. Fallen plaster exposes the wall to moisture and degrades the appearance. The repair mortar must adhere strongly to the substrate, be workable and have low shrinkage.
II. SOLUTION
UNICRET or UNICRET-FAST are cement-lime mortars suitable for replastering at small to medium thicknesses. For thicker layers or when higher mechanical strength is required, DUROCRET or RAPICRET can be used. ADIPLAST polymer additive improves adhesion and flexibility. After restoring the base coat, apply PLANFIX or PLANFIX-FINE putty for a smooth finish before painting.
III. APPLICATION
— Surface preparation: Remove all loose or defective plaster until sound masonry is reached. Clean dust and loose particles. Dampen the surface but avoid water ponding.
— Base coat: Mix UNICRET or UNICRET-FAST mortar with clean water and add ADIPLAST (ratio 1 kg ADIPLAST per 50 kg cement) to improve adhesion. For thick layers use DUROCRET or RAPICRET instead. Apply the mortar with a trowel to fill voids and level the surface. Scratch the surface to provide a key for the finishing coat.
— Finishing coat: After the base coat has set, apply PLANFIX or PLANFIX-FINE putty in thin layers to obtain a smooth surface. If necessary, use a sponge float to texture the surface or apply a final coat of UNICRET-FAST. Allow the repair to cure properly and protect from frost and rapid drying.
IV. REMARKS
Carry out repairs at temperatures between +5 °C and +35 °C. Maximum layer thickness per coat is usually 2 cm for cement mortars; for thicker repairs use multiple layers. Do not add extra water once the material begins to set. Dampen repairs during hot weather to prevent cracking. Wear protective gloves and goggles and read the safety instructions on the product packaging.
